The Symptoms That Point to Ductwork
A few patterns usually mean the ductwork — not the AC unit — is the real problem: airflow that is noticeably weaker in some rooms than others, one part of the house that never gets comfortable no matter the thermostat setting, or a system that runs constantly while specific rooms still lag behind. If the whole house struggles evenly, the equipment is more likely the cause. If it is uneven room to room, look at the ducts.
Why Ductwork Gets Overlooked
Ductwork is hidden in the attic or under the house, so it rarely gets a second look after the initial install — even when the AC system itself has been replaced one or more times since. Leaky joints, crushed flexible duct, and undersized runs can all sit there for years, quietly limiting performance no matter how good the equipment is.
What a Duct Evaluation Actually Involves
NILOV checks airflow at problem rooms, looks for obvious duct damage or disconnections in accessible areas, and considers whether the original duct design ever matched the equipment installed. Sometimes the fix is sealing leaks; sometimes a specific room is better served by a mini split than by fighting an undersized duct run.
